Workplaces Services at The Council is pleased to offer the following services to help you achieve your drug-free workplace goals.

Drug-free Workplace Policy Development, Review and Consultation
Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. Our professional and experienced staff can asses your drug-free workplace needs, help you create a new drug-free workplace policy or revise an existing policy. Once your policy is complete, we will also help you implement it with your employees, including on-site orientation and any technical assistance you may require. Please contact  or 281-200-9112.

Certified Designated Employer Representative Program
Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association training for employee designated and authorized to enforce the company drug-free workplace program. Once the training has been completed, the DER is eligible to test for certification through DATIA. Please contact workplaceservices@council-houston.org or 281-200-9112 for more information.

Drug Detection & Deterrence in the Workplace: Employee Awareness Education
Trained employees are less likely to violate your company policy.  This training focuses on the policy, alcohol & drug awareness and employee roles when it comes to maintaining a drug-free workplace.  It is recommended that all employees receive this training. Drug Detection & Deterrence in the Workplace:  Supervisor Training (meets DOT training requirements)
Supervisors are the key to the success of any drug-free workplace program.  Training your supervisory staff in your policy, alcohol & drug education, supervisory roles and expectations is a great way to ensure your workplace remains drug-free.
Is all or part of your business considered safety-sensitive by the Department of Transportation? If so, we can provide DOT-mandated training for supervisors and employees, to ensure you remain compliant with government regulations. Reasonable Suspicion Drug & Alcohol Testing Training
This course is designed to cover, in detail, supervisor/DER procedures in determining and testing employees on a reasonable suspicion/just cause basis, including:

  • The Threat of substance use in the workplac
  • Overview of supervisory steps in reasonable suspicion
  • Alcohol educaiton - signs & symptoms
  • Illicit drug education - signs & symptoms
  • Documentation methods
  • Intervention, interview and follow-up procedures when criteria is met

Working Parents: Raising Drugfree Youth
Working parents and caregivers are the backbone of many companies.  They are raising the future workforce.  Help you employees raise drugfree youth by offering this training to your employees. Workplace Prevention and Awareness Training
The Council offers the following suite of workplace prevention and awareness training. Each class offers different forms of continuing education through TCBAP, State Bar of Texas and/or HRCI. Please contact  or 281-200-9112.

Brown Bag Sessions/Speaking Engagements
The Council offers more than alcohol and substance abuse programs. Our licensed counselors are available to speak with your employees, organization members or Chamber of Commerce participants about a variety of topics. Please contact  or 281-200-9112. Topics include:

Drug and Alcohol Testing Services
We can help you set up a comprehensive drug testing program that meets your needs, whether you require pre-employment testing, reasonable cause testing, random testing or all of the above. Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Services
The Council can provide SAP services to your employees and can help you earn credits toward your own SAP certification. Contact 281-200-9112 for SAP services.

Executive/Employee Interventions
If someone at any level of your organization needs help with a substance-abuse problem, The Council is ready to step in. We can provide professional, workplace-based interventions and get your staff, colleague or leader on the road to recovery.

Assessments and Evaluations
The Council can provide a certified, licensed counselor for evaluation, brief counseling and referral services for anyone in your company.

Outpatient Treatment and Aftercare
The Center for Recovering Families provides a 8-week, intensive outpatient treatment program called Healing Choices. We reach individuals who suffer from problem drinking or prescription and other drug abuse, as well as other dysfunctional behaviors. And, we understand that lasting success requires active engagement in the recovery process, which we offer through our aftercare program.
