Presentations & Health Fairs

Presentations
The Council provides presentations to the community regarding alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; the consequences of substance abuse; addiction and recovery and Council services. Presentations are available to schools, agencies, businesses, churches and other community groups within Region 6, which includes Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller and Wharton Counties.

Qualified, knowledgeable staff are available during Red Ribbon Week, Alcohol Awareness Month and throughout the year to conduct presentations for you. Specific topics that we present on are:

  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Marijuana
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Consequences and effects of substance abuse
  • What to look for – Signs and Symptoms
  • How to talk to your kids about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs
  • Addiction and recovery
  • How to assist a family member or friend
  • Substance abuse in the workplace

* Other presentations can be developed and conducted upon request, depending on staff availability and expertise. If we are not the best agency to assist you, we will provide you with a list of agencies that specialize in your area of interest.

Health Fairs
Information on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs is distributed at community health fairs by qualified Council staff.  The information includes pamphlets, posters, resource information and Council brochures.

Agency Tours
Guided tours are available for those who wish to experience The Council’s Programs and Services firsthand.  Agency tours are facilitated by key staff members and are available during business hours.

Health Fairs, Presentations and Agency Tours are available to the community at no cost.  A minimum advance notice of two (2) weeks is requested for all Presentations, Heath Fairs and Agency Tours and is contingent upon staff availability.
