"The High Road has been a blessing for our daughter and for my wife and me. Now our daughter has a place to go after school that is safe and where she will be with other kids her age who want to stay off drugs. I feel hope and an optimism that I never felt before. I feel like our entire family is healing and getting better each day thanks to The High Road."

Our Mission
The High Road, the adolescent intensive therapy and alternative peer group program at The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston, is committed to teaching adolescents and their families how to keep teens off drugs and alcohol.
Our Philosophy
A positive peer group, parental involvement and skills-building are keys to success in The High Road. Grounded in cognitive behavior, family systems, and social learning theory, The High Road is a 12-step based recovery program for teens, ages 13 through 18, which provides support, accountability and the refusal skills necessary to say no.
Our Goal
Our goal is to help teens create an exciting and enthusiastic environment in which they can recover from the effects of compulsive behaviors. Our counselors teach and coach parents how to shape their teen’s behavior in addition to helping teens develop their own personal code of ethics regarding drugs and alcohol.

"I got into an alternative peer group and it was probably the best experience of my life. It totally changed everything about me. I now have friends I can trust; I have a lot of them. And, I learned how to do things without having alcohol or drugs."
