SBA Drug-Free Workplace Program

The Council received a two year grant from the Small Business Administration, Paul D. Coverdell Drugfree Workplace Program, to lead and assist small companies in developing and managing a drug-free workplace.

Services offered to small companies through this funding include no-cost policy development and working parent education, reduced cost trainings for small business owners and subsidized drug-testing and/or employee assistance.

When it comes to illicit drug use in the workplace, small businesses carry the heaviest of the load. Forty-four percent of illicit drug users work for small companies. Small companies often do not have the resources or systems in place to reduce their threat.

Through SBA funding, our Workplace Services team, can lead the smallest of companies in implementing a comprehensive drug-free workplace program that 1– Meets the business values 2– Implements the safeguards and procedures the larger businesses have and 3—Is be done at a fraction of market value.
