The Council recognizes that some individuals may have an urgent need for immediate help. If you or someone you know would like to meet with a counselor as soon as possible, we offer a limited number of walk-in appointments each day, Monday through Friday.
These appointments are provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis at The Council’s Fondren Assessment and Counseling Center, beginning when the office doors open at 8:30 a.m. We recommend arriving early: Available time slots usually fill up by 1 p.m. each day.
After signing in, a counselor will meet with you, perform a screening, and discuss available options for finding help in the community. Our service philosophy is built on accommodating each client, wherever they are in the stages of addiction, from non-use, to problem use, to addiction, to recovery.
This service is one of the ways we honor our commitment to the community: We turn no one away because of an inability to pay.
As the Region 6 Outreach, Screening, Assessment, and Referral Center (OSAR), The Council receives funding and support from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
