This training, facilitated by Jana Magee, CPRS, CPRS Trainer, provides an overview of Peer Recovery Coach functions and roles in the lives of individuals with substance use disorders. The course will cover the distinctions between the Clinician/Counselor, Peer Recovery Coach, and Sponsor. Participants will gain an understanding of a state-approved working definition of “recovery,” the spectrum of attitudes, stigmas and labels, Recovery Wellness Plans, Recovery Pathways, recovery capital and barriers and ethical guidelines for a Peer Recovery Coach. Join the Prevention Resource Center – Region 6 for their full-day Summit on Synthetic Marijuana taking place on Friday, July 31. This Summit is aimed at professionals in law enforcement, clinical practice, and substance abuse prevention to learn more about synthetic drugs and how to curb the public health risk to our community. Yoga & Meditation at The Council are classes offered at The Council that are open to the public and free of charge. Beginner Yoga and Meditation Classes are held every Tuesday from noon to 1:15 p.m. and every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Slow Stretch Yoga for Addiction Recovery is offered on Saturday mornings from 10:30 – 11:30 am.
An Evening with… is our ongoing series that brings nationally recognized leaders to the Council to inform a general audience on popular topics and trends in the speaker’s area of expertise.
Friday Forums are one-day, 6-hour workshops offered several times a year. They provide professionals an oppotunity to earn 6 CEU credits while gaining in-depth knowledge on a variety of subjects—typically topics that reflect current trends in behavioral and other healthcare.
Weekend Intensives allow individuals and families to focus on specific issues to gain insight and opportunities for accelerated growth, led by Council therapists who highly qualified experts on the topic.
